We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Daniel Joseph “Danny” Marchand (Ret’d) of Louisdale NS on 29 April 2018 at his residence in Northwood Manor in Halifax NS.

Danny was born in Louisdale. At a young age, he joined the Army and served in the Royal Canadian Engineers during the Second World War. He then settled in Halifax, married and raised a family.  Danny was employed as a freight loader and checker with the Canadian National Railroad and retired after 39 years of service. He moved to Louisdale where he enjoyed many years of fishing, hunting and gardening. Danny was also a former member of the St. Peter's Branch #47 of the Royal Canadian Legion. 

Visitation will take place on Friday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM in the Glen Sampson Room, St Louis Church in Louisdale where a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Parish Cemetery. Donations may be made to the St. Louis Parish Renovation Fund, the Strait Richmond Hospital or to the charity of one’s choice.
