We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Alexander Grant Ross (Ret’d) of Avondale, NS at the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, NS on 4 February 2011 at the age of 88 years.

Alexander was a veteran of the Second World War and served in Northwest Europe with the Royal Canadian Engineers.  After the war, he made a living farming, logging, trucking and Christmas tree exporting.

There will visitation for the family from 11:00 until 12:00 noon on 6 February in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow, NS. A private family service will follow in Hattie Cemetery, Avondale with Alexander’s granddaughter, Lieutenant Commander Bonnie Mason officiating. Donations may be made in Grant’s memory to Hattie Cemetery or any charity of choice.
