    We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant George Richard Armishaw following a brief illness at the Lacombe Hospital, Lacombe AB on 7 November 2012 at the age of 92.

    George was born in Mannville, AB and spent his formative years in Myrnam, AB. He enlisted in the Canadian Army at the age of 19 and served as a clerk with the Royal Canadian Engineers in France, Holland, Belgium and Germany attaining the rank of sergeant. After the war, George returned to Alberta where he worked as a manager for various lumber yards in Paradise Valley, Bashaw, and Rimbey. In Rimbey he moved to the oil industry as an accounting clerk with Amerada Petroleum. In 1972 George moved to Lacombe where he accepted a position as a bookkeeper at the Parkland Regional Library until his retirement in 1972. George was a 72-year member of the Red Deer, AB Legion Branch #35, 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge and member of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners.

    A funeral service will be held on 12 November 2012 at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel, Lacombe, AB followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe.
