Serge Rivard

We regret to advise of the death of Mr Serge Rivard on 14 November 2012 after a short battle with cancer. Serge had 42 years of service to Canada - first in in the Canadian Forces as a Construction Engineering Procedures Technician and then with the Public Service (Assistant Finance Administration Officer), retiring from 19 Wing Construction Engineering in July 2012.
Mr. Serge Rivard was born in Estcourt, QC, in 1951. He joined the Regular Force in June 1969 and was posted to Canadian Forces Radar Station, Sioux Lookout in November 1971 upon completion of his initial Military Engineering training. Employed as a Construction Engineering Procedures Technician, Serge served in various locations across Canada. He was posted to 12eme Regiment Blindé du Canada in Valcartier in November 1972 and then deployed overseas with 73 Canadian Service Battalion to Ismailia Egypt from December 1973 to April 1974. Returning to Canada, Serge was posted to CFS Lowther in June 1975 and subsequently to BFC Montreal in July 1978 where he continued to provide administrative and financial services to Construction Engineering. Serge was then posted to CFS Falconbridge in May 1981 and then to Ottawa in July 1986. Four years later he was posted to BFC Valcartier and then back again to Ottawa in July 1993. In July 1996 he was posted to CFB Comox where he would eventually take his retirement from the Regular Force in June 1997. Serge then joined the Reserve Force from June 1997 until August 2005 holding various positions at 19 Wing Comox.
Serge became a member of the Public Service in December 2005 and worked as the assistant Finance Administration Officer until his retirement in July 2012 from 19 Wing Construction Engineering.
A service will be held on Wednesday 21 November at 13:00 hrs in the 19 Wing Roman Catholic Chapel. Everyone is invited to attend a reception which will be held after the service in the Officers' Mess. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
