MWO Ed Butt, CD
After high school graduation in Lahr, Germany Ed decided to join the CAF in 1983 as an Artilleryman. First posted to Shilo MB for basic training and gunnery school, was then posted to 2 RCHA Petawawa. Shortly thereafter he became interested in being a “bird gunner” and was then posted to Chatham NB 119 Air Defense Battery.
After seeing the light he VOT in 1988 into the electrical trade, was posted throughout his career to Chilliwack, Cold Lake, Trenton x 3, CFSME and Kingston only shorting out 1 set of pliers along the way.
Some of the memorable highlights in Ed’s 34 + year career were UN tours to the Golan x 3, Haiti, and tasking’s to Alert, Hawaii, and Iraq. An avid sportsman he competed in CF National Hockey and Fastball winning championships in both.
Ed has accepted a job in Kingston with the Public Service and will settle down in the Kingston area with his wife Kelly.
Ed would like to personally thank all of you that he worked for and with for all the great times and memories over the past 34 years.
The DWD will take place on Wednesday 6 Mar from 1300-1600 hrs at the ANAF club at 317 Gore Rd, Kingston Ontario.
