MCpl Michaël Nicolas Bergeron was born on 20 August 1989 in Saint-Flavien, in the Lotbinière region, near Quebec City.

At the age of 23, after having studied history and anthropology, he enlisted in the CAF as a non-commissioned member at CFRC Quebec on 09 August 2012. After his trade course at CFB Gagetown in New Brunswick, he was posted to 5 CER as a Sapper at CFB Valcartier, QC. He was advance-promoted by 12 months to the rank of Cpl on 18 August 2015.

During OP LENTUS, MCpl Bergeron appreciated coming to the aid of Canadians who were suffering during the May 2017 floods in St-Jean-Sur-Le-Richelieu. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to the rank of MCpl on 16 July 2018.

A year later, he deployed to Taji, Iraq, as part of OP IMPACT. From February to August 2019, he was the Section 2I/C of the EROC suite on a mentoring mission in partnership with the Iraqi Armed Forces.

Upon returning from his deployment, MCpl Bergeron was assigned to the Regimental Operations cell of 5 CER and put in charge of Regimental resources. He would prove to be an asset there for almost two years.

After nine years of loyal service, MCpl Bergeron will release from the CAF on 16 August 2021. He will continue protecting Canadians, this time from cyber-attack threats, by completing cybersecurity training
