    After 9 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, MCpl Jordan O’Brien released on 15 January 2024. Anecdotes and well wishes may be sent toCapt K.S.C. Ho at Kyle.Ho@forces.gc.ca.


    Born in Edmonton, Alberta, and raised in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, MCpl O’Brien enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Combat Engineer in December 2014. Following the completion of DP1 in December 2015, MCpl O’Brien was posted to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment, where he would spend the majority of his time in the CAF.

    MCpl O’Brien was employed in 11 Field Squadron (Fd Sqn), 12 Fd Sqn, and 18 Administrative Sqn, where he quickly became a valuable member of the Regiment. He deployed on numerous exercises and domestic operations at home and abroad and was selected as force protection for Op IMPACT in Iraq.

    As a self-motivated individual, MCpl O’Brien completed the Combat Diver course, the Basic Parachutist course, and was selected to attend the Special Operations Assaulter Course with the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM).
     
    MCpl O’Brien’s desire for adventure will continue after his time in the CAF as he will head to Africa and expects to end up somewhere in the Middle East.
