    We regret to advise of the death of Major Malcolm Stott "Mac" MacConnell, CD (Ret'd), peacefully on 13 November 2012, at his home in Dartmouth NS at the age of 89 years.

    Born in Plaster Rock NB, Mac attended Plaster Rock High School. He was a veteran of the Secoond World War, joininhg the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and going overseas in 1943 where he flew two tours as a pilot with Royal Air Force Bomber Command. His second tour was with the Pathfinder Force. 

    After the end of the war, Mac returned to Fredericton NB where he graduated as a Civil Engineer from the University of New Brunswick in 1950. He then rejoined the RCAF and served as a Construction Engineer officer until he retired from the Canadian Forces in 1972. After retirement, he continued to serve as a public servant at Maritime Command Headquarters in Halifax NS in various construction engineering positions until his retirement in 1987. 

    Mac was a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, the Nova Scotia  Centennial Branch No 160 of the Royal Canadian Legion and  the Nova Scotia Branch of the Aircrew Association, He was an active member of Woodlawn United Church where he served as an Elder for 17 years. Mac also served on the Halifax Presbytery for five years. He enjoyed all outdoor life, especially hunting, fishing and gardening. 

    Visitation on 16 November 2012 from 2 to 4:00 pm and 7 to 9:00 pm. Funeral services on 17 November at 11:00 am. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
