We regret to advise of the death of Louie “Louis” Gschaid on 4 February 2012 in Edmonton AB at the age of 89. 

Louie was born in Plattling, Germany and immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of six and lived in Lethbridge AB until he enlisted in the Army in 1941.  He served with the 2^nd Battalion of the Royal Canadian Engineers in England, Belgium and Holland ensuring the mobility of the front line units.  Upon his demobilization in 1945, he settled in Edmonton where he resided for the last 65 years of his life.  He worked for McGavin’s Bakery in Edmonton until his retirement in 1987.
