After more than 38 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, LCol P.J. Kernaghan, CD, will retire on 28 August 2024. A Depart with Dignity (DwD) ceremony for friends and coworkers will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 12:00 to 16:00 at Brew Revolution in Stittsville, Ontario (6081 Hazeldean Rd Unit 11A, Stittsville, ON K2S 1B9). He describes his career as “the path less traveled”:
non-commissioned officer and officer; instructor, staff officer, and commander at the section to
unit levels; time in the reserve and regular forces, as well as employment in the army and
special operations; and overseas and domestic operations.Content that he has had an interesting and diverse career, his next effort will be something
different. He will work as a kinesiologist with the goal of improving the lives of veterans with
complex injuries. He will stay in Ottawa with his family and continue to play the sports and
