Lieutenant-Colonel Généreux will retire from the Canadian Armed Forces on 17 September 2014 after over 34 years of dedicated service. Lieutenant-Colonel Luc Généreux enrolled under the Regular Officer Training Program and graduated from the Royal Military College of Kingston with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1985. Once he completed his military engineering training, he was subsequently posted to various positions across Canada where he served at Base Construction Engineering Section Greenwood and Valcartier, 5 Combat Engineer Regiment, 9 Field Engineer Squadron, Strategic planner at NDHQ, Land Force Atlantic Area HQ, Mobile Command and Land Staff.
He completed his master’s degree in Urban Planning in 1992 at the Université de Montréal. In 2000, he completed the short graduate studies program in project management at the Université du Quebec. In 2006, he attended the U.S. Army’s command and staff course in Fort Benning, Georgia. In 2009, he was appointed as Commander of CFB / Area Support Unit Shilo, Manitoba as Base Commander. Upon completion of his command tour, LCol Genereux was selected to attend the post graduate Advanced Course on Hemispheric Security and Defence at the Inter-American Defence College located in Washington (DC). During which, he also completed a Master’s Degree in Defence & Security of the Americas from the National Academy of political and strategic studies of Chile. In 2012, he has posted to NDHQ at ADM(IE) as Team Leader for the delivery of Army Projects and Director Real Property Operations – North Region. Lieutenant-colonel Généreux and his wife Pascale will remain in the Ottawa area upon his retirement.
Lieutenant-Colonel Généreux’s last day at work will be 20 June 2014. Friends and colleagues are welcome to attend the ceremonial depart with dignity, which will be held at the Ottawa Air Force Officer’s Mess (Astra Lounge), on Thu 24 July 2014 from 1430-1630 hrs.
