We regret to advise of the death of Lieutenant Colonel Laurent R. Bergeron, CD (Ret’d) in Boucherville QC on 12 January 2021 at the age of 89. Lionel was a former Commanding Officer of 3^rd Field Engineer Regiment (3 FER) in Montreal QC.

Laurent entered le College Militaire de St Jean in 1969 and graduated from the Royal Military College in Kingston in 1974 with his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He also achieved his MBA later from McGill University. Laurent served with 3^rd Field Engineer Regiment in Montreal where he rose to be appointed Commanding Officer (1968-70) and was a member of  the 3 FER Senate and Foundation in the early 2000s.

Laurent began his managerial career at Westinghouse and retired out of Nexans. He was very involved in various charitable organizations and founded the Les Sages de la Rive-Sud hockey league for those aged 70 and over.

Due to COVID-19, a celebration of Laurent’s life will be held at a future time. Online condolences can be sent to the funeral home. In-memorial donations in Laurent’s name can be made to a charity of your choice.
