John Stratechuk

We regret to advise of the death of John Stratechuk peacefully at the Veterans Village, Sherbrooke Community Center, Saskatoon, SK on 23 May 2009, six days short of his 89th birthday.
John was born and raised on a farm northwest of Sheho, SK. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in January 1942 and served with the Kings Own Rifles of Canada in BC and in Prince Albert, SK. In April 1945 he transferred into the Royal Canadian Engineers; however, the war ended before he went overseas. After the war, John farmed south of Sheho until 1964 when he moved to Yorkton, SK and was employed at Morris Rod Weeder until his retirement. John was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #77, in Yorkton.
A Celebration of Life Tea will be held on 29 May from 2 to 4 pm in the Common Room at Veterans Village at Sherbrooke Community Center, 401 Acadia Dr., Saskatoon, SK. A family interment will be held on 10 July at 11:00 am at Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sheho, SK. Donations may be made to Veterans Village, House 8, 401 Acadia Dr., Saskatoon, or to Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church, Cemetery Fund, Sheho, SK. {gdOct2016kh}
