We regret to advise of the death of Corporal John Robert Samuels (Ret'd) on 29 July 2016 in Canora, SK at the age of 93 years.

John was a first-generation Canadian of Romanian origin. He was born in 1922 in the Insinger district in Saskatchewan and lived just south of Canora, SK for most of his life. he was a veteran of the Second World War and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1942 and went overseas into active duty. After the war ended, he came home to Canada and returned to Canora with his war bride Ina. He was a member of the Canora Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.

A Memorial Service will be held on 1 October 2016 from the Canora Legion Dugout Hall, Canora, SK. Interment following in the Legion Section, Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to The Salvation Army, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of John. ^{{khOct2016dc} [zsd, zcc, zpp]}
