Jim Riley, born in Bayfield NB, played hockey and baseball in the early part of the 20th century. He was a member of the 1917 Stanley Cup champion Seattle Metropolitans, the first American team to win the trophy. He left hockey briefly in 1918 to enlist in the Canadian Army with the 6th Field Company, Canadian Engineers, leaving the Army in 1919 at the rank of sergeant. On Tuesday 8 March 2022, Cpl Kyle Scott, (Ret’d) was honoured by the Military Personnel Command of the Canadian Forces for his efforts in helping veterans receive honours and awards.
