On 17 July 2019, CFB Borden celebrated the 116th Birthday of the CME and 5th Birthday of RP Ops. On 24 June 2019 Mrs Shirley O’Connell, the “Izzy Doll Mama” was presented the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation by Minister Lawrence MacAulay. This commendation is awarded annually to deserving recipients who have performed commendable service to the Veteran community or individuals who represent commendable role models for their fellow Veterans.

Op DISTINCTION is the operation name for Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC) ceremonial events. As part of the efforts to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day, CJOC deployed a contingent of over 300 members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) to France to participate in over 10 ceremonies and events.

During 2019 Royal Canadian Legion branches have continued their support of 6 Field Engineer Squadron Museum in North Vancouver. Earlier this year the museum received a $200 cheque from RCL Legion Branch 263 (Coquitlam) and in June we received $2000 from RCL Legion Branch 118 (North Vancouver). In previous years Branches 277 (Squamish), 114 (Lynn Valley) and 60 (West Vancouver) have financially assisted our museum.

Recently, the 6th Field Engineer Squadron Museum has been cooperating with the Headley Down Nature Reserve Trust (HDNRT) to create a nature park and a memorial to the Royal Canadian Engineers (RCE) who, in 1941 built a 400-man detention facility called Camp Erie at Headley Down in England.

39 Combat Engineer Regiment held its annual D-Day Dinner on Saturday, June 8 and it was a great success. This year the format was a Mess Dinner as opposed to a mixed dining-in as in other years.
Forty-four people attended the dinner and contingents from 15 Field RCA band and the J.P Fell band provided music. Also, the museum was open and visited by many guests who remarked on the changes that have taken place over the last year.
