From 15-17 February, ADM(IE)’s Chief of Staff, MGen Sylvain Sirois, and the Commander of the Real Property Operations Group, Col Kevin Horgan, attended Exercise UBIQUE at the  Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering (CFSME) at CFB Gagetown. This year’s theme was Mission Ready.

Presentations focused on training well-prepared and resilient engineers to meet future operational requirements, including engineering support for the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) program and the role of 1 Engineering Support Unit (ESU) in supporting operations. The audience was comprised of junior officers and senior non-commissioned officers attending engineering courses at the school. Col Horgan spoke about the role and direction of Construction Engineers in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). MGen Sirois provided closing remarks.

Exercise UBIQUE served as the capstone to this year’s senior courses at CFSME and provided a chance for the military engineering community to discuss current challenges and opportunities within the CAF. The three-day exercise included a meet and greet, a mess dinner, and ended with a graduation parade for students in the Construction Engineer Officer Course.
