    We regret to advise that Gordon R. Appel passed away peacefully at his home in Edmonton, on 29 July 2012 at the age of 68 years. Gord was born in 1944 in Kenora, ON, and started his first career with the 9th Intake of the Sapper Apprentices of the Royal Canadian Engineers.

    Gordon was very diverse in his careers after his initial commitment to the Canadian Army - working in the running trades at CP Rail, in sales and imports while living in Winnipeg, and as an active member of the Independent Funeral Directors of Alberta. A well-respected Edmonton entrepreneur, Gord built the Limelight Restaurant and, up to his death, owned and operated Appel Funeral Homes/ Central Memorial Chapel.

    A Visitation will be held Thursday, 2 August 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Appel Funeral Homes/Central Memorial Chapel, 10530 - 116 Street, Edmonton A Celebration of the Life of Gordon Appel will be held on Friday, 3 August 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Evangel Pentecostal Assembly, 4461 - 50 Street, Edmonton with Interment to follow at Edmonton Cemetery.
