-
We regret to advise of the death of Firefighter John Archibald King, peacefully, in Saskatoon SK on 27 December 2019 at the age of 87 years.
John was born on his family’s farm near Dundurn, SK. He attended Gilead, a one-room country school, for his elementary school education and then continued his education at the Hanley high school. On completion of his schooling John moved to northern Alberta and worked in construction for a short period of time. Returning to Saskatchewan, he started his service as a civilian firefighter with the Department of National Defence at Canadian Forces Base Dundurn - a career that was to continue for thirty-two years before John retired.
Shortly after his retirement John started working in a new field when he began a part-time position at the Union Center. Following his time at the Union Center, John spent several years travelling the prairies recovering antique tractors for resale.
