From February to September 2008, Sergeant Pronk provided outstanding combat leadership to the Armoured Engineering Vehicle Section in Afghanistan. He played a critical role in more than ten major operations, completing tasks including breaching difficult terrain under direct enemy fire, building tactical infrastructure and conducting counter improvised explosive device operations. Sergeant Pronk’s innovative approach, extraordinary work ethic and technical knowledge provided the battle group with increased mobility, force protection and flexibility.
