On this day in 1945, L/Sgt Robert Henry Dunkeld, 9th Fd Sqn, RCE, on the last day of the Battle of Kapelsche Veer completed an important reconnaissance under German observation and fire. This action culminated a series of dangerous reconnaissance tasks carried out by L/Sgt Dunkeld and won him a Military Medal.
