Chief Warrant Officer Philippe Clot, CD

Chief Warrant Officer Philippe Clot was born in southern France in the town of Revel. In July 1966, at the age of eight his parents immigrated to Canada and first settled in Montreal (Quebec). He joined the military on 3 June 1976 in Windsor, ON as a 041 Field Engineer.

After Basic training in St-Jean, QB, he continued on with Field Engineering TQ 3 training in Chilliwack, BC. Upon graduating in July 1977, he served in 2 Troop with the 5e RGC in Valcartier for a short time before his remuster in 1979 as a 151 Map Repro Technician (MRT) to the Mapping and Charting Establishment (MCE) in Ottawa. By 1983 CWO Clot completed his 6A MRT trade qualification and was employed as a press operator in Reproduction Division.

In 1985 upon promotion to Sgt, he was posted to the Force Mobile Headquarters (FMC) graphic arts section as the section 2 I/C. In 1988 he was posted back to MCE Repro Div as pressroom 2 I/C.

In 1990 he attended the Advance Lithographic Techniques training at RIT in Rochester NY and was promoted the same year to the rank of Warrant Officer. As a Warrant Officer, CWO Clot’s employment covered the full spectrum of his occupation including Reproduction instructor at the School of Military Mapping, Field Print section Commander in support of Field exercises and the RV’s concentration series. In 1997, the Geomatics Technician (Geo Tech) occupation emerges with the amalgamation of both the Topographic Surveyor and Map Reproduction Technician trade.

This provided an opportunity to CWO Clot to be employed as a GST Comd with SQFT HQ G2 during the OP ABACUS in support of the Y2K.

From May to November 1996, CWO Clot deployed as a Terrain Analysis Team Leader to Bosnia-Herzegovina under CCIFOR.

For this tour, he was part of the “Division Salamandre” under French army command in Mostar. In October 2000, CWO deployed as the Geographic Detachment Warrant Officer in Banja Luka in Bosnia-Herzegovina, under OP Palladium ROTO 7.

Promoted to the rank of Master Warrant Officer in April 2001, he was employed as the Reproduction Troop Commander in Geographic Support Squadron. In 2003, he moved to Digital Production Squadron as the 5 Troop Commander and then as Operations Officer. Upon promotion to Chief Warrant Officer in June 2004, CWO Clot was employed as the School Standards CWO and the Geo Tech Senior Occupation manager.

CWO Clot was appointed as the 23th Regimental Sergeant Major of the Mapping and Charting Establishment on the 29 June 2006.

On the 29 May 2008 CWO Clot was appointed as the 12th CME Branch CWO.

Chief Warrant Officer Clot started chasing balls on the golf course but feel much more comfortable on an archery course. Chief Warrant Officer Clot and his wife, Christiane Simard, have two daughters, 2Lt Amélie Clot graduated from RMC on 15 May 2008 and Andréanne presently in third-year at Ottawa University.
