After more than 24 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, Sgt R.M. Genereux, CD, (00306) will retire on 7 October 2026.

Sgt Robert Genereux will retire from the Canadian Military Engineers on 07 Oct 2026 after more than 24 years of dedicated service to Canada.
They enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces on 05 Nov 2001. Upon completion of basic training and battle school they were posted to CFB Petawawa where they completed a 12-year career in the combat arms at the 1st Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment. Towards the end of their infantry career, they were employed as a Section Commander and Lav Crew Commander. On Sept 2013 Sgt Genereux changed trades and completed his construction technician apprenticeship training at CFSME in Gagetown where they were subsequently posted back to CFB Petawawa.
In 2017 Sgt Genereux was picked up for a role in CANSOFCOM where they spent the next 6 years prior to their last posting to CFB Edmonton to round out their career.
Throughout their career, Sgt Genereux was recognized for their leadership, strong work ethic and accomplishments on deployed operations. Their service brought them across Canada, Europe, Western Asia, and other locations throughout the world. During their tenure, they have earned their CD 1st clasp, SSM – Expeditionary medal, General Service Campaign star +2 RB, NATO Former Yugoslavia medal, Canadian Peacekeeping service medal, and a Command Commendation.
After a rewarding career of service to Canada, Sgt. Genereux looks forward to the next chapter of life with gratitude for the opportunities, friendships, and experiences gained throughout their military journey. They extend their sincere thanks to the many mentors, colleagues, friends, and family members who supported them along the way.
Sgt Robert Genereux – Biographie
Le sergent Robert Genereux prendra sa retraite du Corps du génie des Forces armées canadiennes le 7 octobre 2026, après plus de 24 ans de loyaux services au Canada.
Il s’est enrôlé dans les Forces armées canadiennes le 5 novembre 2001. Après avoir terminé sa formation de base et son école de combat, il a été affecté à la BFC Petawawa, où il a mené une carrière de 12 ans dans les armes de combat au sein du 1er Bataillon du Royal Canadian Regiment. Vers la fin de sa carrière dans l’infanterie, il a occupé les fonctions de commandant de section et de commandant d’équipage de Lav. En septembre 2013, le sergent Genereux a changé de métier et a terminé sa formation d’apprenti technicien en construction au CFSME de Gagetown, après quoi il a été réaffecté à la BFC Petawawa. En 2017, le sergent Genereux a été sélectionné pour un poste au sein du CONFOSCAN, où il a passé les six années suivantes avant sa dernière affectation à la BFC Edmonton, où il a terminé sa carrière.
Tout au long de sa carrière, le sergent Genereux a été reconnu pour son leadership, sa solide éthique de travail et ses réalisations lors d’opérations de déploiement. Son service l’a amené à travers le Canada, en Europe, en Asie occidentale et dans d’autres régions du monde. Au cours de sa carrière, il a obtenu l’agrafe de 1re classe de la Médaille du service canadien, la Médaille expéditionnaire du SSM, l’Étoile de campagne du service général +2 RB, la Médaille de l’OTAN pour l’ex-Yougoslavie, la Médaille canadienne du service de maintien de la paix et une mention élogieuse du commandement.
Après une carrière enrichissante au service du Canada, le sergent Genereux aborde avec enthousiasme ce nouveau chapitre de sa vie, reconnaissant pour les occasions, les amitiés et les expériences acquises tout au long de son parcours militaire. Il tient à exprimer ses sincères remerciements aux nombreux mentors, collègues, amis et membres de sa famille qui l’ont soutenu tout au long de ce parcours.
