23rd Annual Canadian Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony

The 23rd Annual Canadian Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony will take place at the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation (CFFF) Memorial at LeBreton Flats in Ottawa on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

CAF Military Fire Service Involvement

CAF Military Fire Service members continue to support the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation, including service on the CFFF Board of Directors:

  • John Sobey — CFFF Secretary (CAF Ret’d)
  • Bruce Paradis — CFFF Treasurer (CAF Ret’d)
  • Martin Rousseau — CFFF Member (CAF Ret’d)

Schedule of Events

Friday, September 11 — CFFF Hospitality Event

7:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. • “Panorama” Penthouse Level, Delta Ottawa

A hospitality event for attendees will be held on the Panorama penthouse level of the Delta Ottawa.

Saturday, September 12 — Ceremony Briefing & Headdress Party Rehearsal

9:30 a.m. • LeBreton Flats, intersection of Lett Street and Kichi Zībī Mīkan Parkway (formerly Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway)

  • Fire Service members who wish to learn or brush up on parade drill are encouraged to attend.
  • Active and retired military fire service members will review basic drill at the halt and on the march.
  • Fire Service flag party participants will rehearse under the direction of CFFF Colour Guard Commander Peter Roy-Smith (Ottawa Fire). Please bring flags, axes and pikes.
  • The Fire Service Honour Guard will rehearse under the direction of parade commander and ceremony director John Sobey (CAF & OFS Retired), Bruce Paradis (CAF, Retired) and Martin Rousseau (Clarence-Rockland Fire Service).
  • Uniforms are not required for the rehearsal. Please dress for the weather.
  • Pipers and drummers will meet under the direction of Pipe Major Owen Bonnar.

Saturday, September 12 — Pints and Pipers Social

Royal Oak • 180 Kent Street, Ottawa

Please join the pipers and drummers on the patio for an evening social with families and firefighters from across Canada.

Sunday, September 13 — CFFF Parade Muster & Memorial Ceremony

CFFF Memorial, LeBreton Flats, Ottawa

  • Fire Service personnel wishing to participate in the ceremony are requested to appear in full dress uniform with medals and headdress.
  • Parade muster will take place on Commissioner Street at Wellington Street, across from Library and Archives Canada.
  • Turn off or silence all electronic devices.
  • Sunglasses are not to be worn.
  • White gloves are not to be worn except by colour and vigil party members. Cap badge shrouds are not required.
  • In the event of inclement weather, departmental/service raincoats should be worn.

Memorial Parking

Parking for the September 13 memorial ceremony is available on the east side at 395 Wellington Street (Library and Archives Canada).

CFFF Merchandise Store

The CFFF Merchandise Store will be located in the lobby of the Delta Ottawa, 101 Lyon Street.

  • Friday, September 11: 12:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 12: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 13: Following the Memorial Ceremony until 2:00 p.m.
