We regret to advise of the death of William "Bill" Neville Duncan, B.A. Sc., P. Eng. of Peterborough ON at Canterbury Gardens on 29 November 2018 at the age of 98 years.
Bill was born at home on Pickering Street in the east end of Toronto. He attended Adam Beck Public School and Malvern Collegiate School. During the Second World War, he served with the 1st Canadian Division in Italy and Northwest Europe in the Royal Canadian Engineers. After the war, he graduated in Mining Engineering from the University of Toronto. His career in mining and construction spanned 35 years, culminating in his role as a Councillor Specialist with the Construction Safety Association of Ontario. A gifted athlete, he played football for the University of Toronto Varsity team. He also played hockey, and during his time in Italy, he played catcher for the Canadian Army baseball team. In retirement, he was a member of the Peterborough Golf and Country Club, where he shot his age 51 times.
Bill's family will receive friends and relatives at Canterbury Gardens, 1414 Sherbrooke St, Peterborough ON, on Monday, 10 December from 11:00AM to 2:00PM with eulogies at 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bill can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
