On 02 May, the Real Property Operation Unit (West) (RPOU(W)) Comd Team visited Canadian Force Base Suffield. In addition to meeting with key base stakeholders, the aim of the visit was to celebrate the Engineer’s birthday, offer best wishes to two deploying members, and most importantly, to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of CFB Suffield members.

The visit was a fitting occasion to celebrate Military Engineer branch birthday with a ceremonial cake. While eating cake, the detachment offered their best wished to Capt. Peregoodoff deploying to Operation CALUMET and to Maj Bartek who is deploying on Operation IMPACT. In addition to providing excellent opportunities to military members, these deployments also provide an opportunity for an acting civilian OC, Mr. Ian Moon.

LCol Jonathan Hallett also seized the opportunity to bestow recognition upon two-unit stalwarts, Candace Reid and Dolores Goguen who were honoured with 15-year service awards. Furthermore, retirement scrolls were presented to Andrew Herman and Juta Bialke, acknowledging their distinguished careers and enduring legacy within the unit. Their unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions over the years exemplify the ethos of service excellence. And finally, the RPOU(W) Comd team recognized the exemplary efforts of a dedicated team, presenting coins to Michael Webb, Mark Williams, Conrad Boisvert, and Judith Peters. Their remarkable feat of restoring a mechanical room to operational status following a sprinkler system failure exemplifies the resilience and technical expertise required to overcome unforeseen infrastructure challenges.

Although the visit was short, it was an excellent opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding work that CFB Suffield has completed and continues to complete in support of Real Property operations.
