After more than 19 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers, Maj Andrew Peddle, CD, will retire on 02 June 2023. A depart with dignity ceremony will take place on 31 May 2023 at the Tracks, Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering, Oromocto, New Brunswick from 14h00 to 16h00. Later in the summer, an informal gathering will be held once details have been confirmed. Major Andrew Peddle joined the CAF in December 2003 as a Reserve Infantryman with the Nova Scotia Highlanders. In September 2009, then MCpl Peddle joined Psychological Operations as a Tactical Operator. In November 2010, he deployed to Kandahar as part of Op ATHENA, TF 3-10, and was assigned to various American units throughout the Dand and Panjwaii District as a PsyOps team 2I/C. Upon his return from deployment, he commenced a component transfer to become a Construction Engineering Officer.
In January 2012, Lt Peddle reported to CFSME to await training. Upon graduation from phase training, he remained at CFSME as a Flt Comd within the Construction Engineer Training Squadron. In 2014, Capt Peddle was posted to 1 CAD HQ in Winnipeg where he occupied numerous positions including 1 CAD HQ Operations Officer, A4 CE Doctrine and Training, Executive Assistant to the 1 CAD DComd FG, and finally as the RCAF Fire Marshal. In July 2016, Capt Peddle deployed on a TAV to Op IMPACT as the JTF(I) JEng Plans Officer. In 2017, he was posted to 14 Wg Greenwood as the RP Ops Det RO/2IC. Major Peddle was promoted to his current rank in 2018 and appointed Officer Commanding Construction Engineering Flight for 14 Mission Support Squadron before taking over as the Officer Commanding Real Property Operations Detachment Greenwood from 2019 to 2022. He was then posted to his current position as Deputy Commandant of CFSME.
Major Andrew Peddle is married to Katie and has two children, Connor and Abigail. Upon his retirement, Major Peddle and his family look forward to planting roots in Greenwood where he has accepted a position with DCC.
