On 20 September 2024, Canadian Force Base (CFB) Winnipeg hosted the highly anticipated Great Canadian Workplace Charitable Challenge (GCWCC) Plane Pull, a unique event that brings together teams for a good cause. Among the standout competitors was the Joint Engineer team, named the "Eager Beaver," which comprised 25 engineers from Real Property Operations Detachment (RPOD) Winnipeg, 17 Mission Support Squadron (MSS) Construction Engineer (CE) Flight, and 1 Canadian Air Division Headquarter (1 CAD HQ) A4 CE.
The Eager Beaver team took to the tarmac with enthusiasm and determination, ready to tackle the challenge of pulling aircraft and vehicles that tested their physical strength and collaborative spirit. The event is about competition and raising funds for charitable initiatives, making it a meaningful occasion for all participants.
The team's preparation paid off. They won the CT142 Dash-8 pull, completing the challenge in an impressive 10.7 seconds. This remarkable feat showcased their strategic approach to teamwork and coordination, leaving a lasting impression on all who witnessed it.
In addition to their win in the Dash-8 pull, the Eager Beaver team demonstrated their strength in the Semi-truck pull, finishing with a commendable time of 13.39 seconds, earning them a well-deserved second place in this challenging category. Their performance reinforced the importance of working together to achieve a common goal.
