    We regret to advise of the death of David Clifford McMurray on Saturday, 28 December 2019 at Lynn Valley Care Centre in North Vancouver, BC at age 97.

    Dave was born in Fort McLeod, AB in 1922 - one of five children. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on 2 July 1939 and served with the 6th Field Company, Royal Canadian Engineers during the Second World War and overseas until 1945. He was part of the D-Day assault force at Normandy.  His three brothers, Leslie, Jess and Lou also enlisted and served in WW2.

    Upon returning to Canada, Dave joined the Permanent Force and served with the Royal Canadian Engineers until 1964 when he was honourably released. Dave then worked for Public Works Canada as head of Central Audit Section, Government of Canada until his retirement in 1977.

    Dave was a very proud Canadian and extremely proud of his military service. He was awarded France’s Legion d'Honneur in 2017 in recognition of his participation in the 1944 campaign to liberate France.  He supported the Trans Canada Trail as a trail building supporter, dedicated to preserving and conserving the natural grandeur of Canada for all people to enjoy now and beyond tomorrow.
