Chief Warrant Officer Glenn Simpkin joined the CAF as an Artilleryman in the fall of 1982. He was posted to Artillery School Gagetown N.B. in 1986 and applied for a remuster to topographic surveyor in January 1994.
After completion of his DP 1 and 2 survey trg, he took part in several Arctic survey missions, and three tours in Bosnia and Herzegovina 1996, 1998 and 2000. In 1999 he attended the Advanced Topographic Analysis Course at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
In 2002 he was posted to the Joint Headquarters in Kingston, during the two years there he deployed twice. In 2003 to Afghanistan and 2004 to Haiti after which he was posted back to MCE Ottawa as an instructor in the school.
In 2005 after the yearlong French course, he held various positions at MCE as WO and MWO prior to a posting to Naples, Italy. While in Naples he deployed to Iraq for the NATO Training Mission and was heavily involved in Operation Unified Protector for Libya.
He was posted back to MCE in 2012 where he has been the Geo Support Sqn Sergeant Major, Ops MWO and School CWO prior to selection as RSM MCE in 2016.
On 9 June 2017, CWO Simpkin was appointed the 16th Canadian Military Engineering Branch Chief Warrant Officer.
He is married to Angela, and together they have two daughters, Gillian and Joseline.
