After more than 36 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, CWO Albertson, MMM, CD, will retire on 08 August 2025. Chief Warrant Officer Paul Albertson enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1990 in London, Ontario.
On completing of basic training at CFB Cornwallis, CWO Albertson completed Combat Engineer trades training at CFB Chilliwack. Following this, he served in 22 Field Squadron, 4 Engineer Support Regiment, 31 Combat Engineer Regiment, 1 Combat Engineer Regiment, Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering, in all positions from Sapper to Sergeant-Major.
Chief Warrant Officer Albertson’s international deployments have been to Rwanda (UNAMIR), Haiti (UNMIH), The Former Yugoslavia (SFOR NATO) and Afghanistan (ISAF NATO). His extra regimental appointments include service with The Standing Contingency Force as the Amphibious Landing Party Lead, and 1 Canadian Division HQ as the HQ Sergeant Major.
Chief Warrant Officer Albertson has also completed numerous Op LENTUS deployments such as forest fire fighting in Northern Alberta, and the response to the Calgary floods of 2013. He also participated in Op GRIZZLY in support of the G7 Summit at Kananaskis.In addition to routine duties, he has also had the opportunity to undertake other employment in Poland, The Netherlands, Tanzania, Chile and Peru ranging from Capacity Building to Influence Activities. Most recently he was employed by the Canadian Border Service Agency/Public Health Agency of Canada Border Task Force as a lead member of the Canada/United States Border re-opening.
Chief Warrant Officer Albertson’s appointments have been as Regimental Sergeant Major Peace Support Training Centre, Interim Formation Sergeant Major Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre, and most recently as the Unit CWO Canadian Joint Warfare Centre.
Since posting from the CJWC in June 2022 CWO Albertson has assumed the duties of the Director General Conflict Prevention and Resolution CWO and also has the privilege to serve as the Royal Canadian Engineer Corps CWO.
