We regret to advise of the death of Corporal Ryan "Rynot" Curtis Whynot, CD of Pleasantville NS, unexpectedly on 24 October 2021 at the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater NS at age 40.  Ryan was serving with 143 Construction Engineering Flight, Lunenburg County.

Born in Bridgewater, Ryan was an electrician by trade but he knew how to do just about anything. He was a “jack of all trades” and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Ryan enrolled in the Canadian Forces in 2006 as a Mobile Support Equipment Operator with 143 Construction Engineering Flight in Bridgewater NS. He served all his 15 years of service with this unit. After being in the MSE Op trade for ten years, Ryan elected for an occupational transfer to Electrical Distribution Technician and then put his ED Tech skills to use within the unit and working on community projects. Ryan also led multiple training sessions within the unit to teach members basic electrical skills and knowledge.

Ryan deployed to Afghanistan (Oct 2008 to Jan 2009). He completed his Airfield Damage Repair/Rapid Runway Repair certification in Cold Lake AB in 2009. During his service, Ryan participated in multiple training deployments to locations like North Carolina and Georgia and also participated in taskings within Canada in Comox, Cold Lake and other various locations.

A private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ryan’s memory may be made to his family or your charity of choice. On-line condolences can be sent to the funeral home. Letters of condolences can also be sent to the family’s Designated Assistant, WO S.D. Stevens  who will ensure that they will be given to the family.
