We regret to advise of the death of Corporal James "Marty" Squires (Ret'd) of St John's NL on 24 February  2024 at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre at the age of 66 years.

Marty was born and lived in St John's NL. He served as a Field Engineer in the Primary Reserve, with 56 Fd Engr Sqn, during the period 1973-1977.  In civilian life, he was a Corrections Officer and worked at several correctional facilities in Newfoundland including His Majesty's Penitentiary in St. John's, from where he retired. After retiring from his career as a Correctional Officer, Marty enjoyed working with the Association of New Canadians, where he met, helped out and made many special friends. 

Visitation took take place at Carnell's Funeral Home { 329 Freshwater Road } from 12-4:00 p.m. and 5-9:00 p.m. Sunday, 3 March. Donations may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center. Online condolences can be sent to the funeral home.
