    After more than 12 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers Branch, Cpl Chad Gibbons, CD, retired on 11 April 2022. Anecdotes and retirement wishes may be sent to WO M.C.S. Vance at Matthew.Vance@forces.gc.ca.


    Cpl Chad Gibbons enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces on 28 September 2009 as a rifleman with the infantry. After completing BMQ and Battle School, Cpl Gibbons was posted to 2 Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (2 PPCLI) in Shilo, MB. While serving with 2 PPCLI, Cpl Gibbons completed all his qualifications as a Rifleman, including DP2, LMG Operator, LAV III Driver, RG31 Driver, and ATCIS Operator.

    In 2017, Cpl Gibbons completed an Occupational Transfer to Refrigeration and Mechanical Technician Apprentice. Upon completion of QL3 at CFSME in Gagetown, he was posted to RPOU (West) Wainwright in Alberta, supporting infrastructure maintenance. In 2021, Cpl Gibbons completed the QL5 Journeyman’s course before returning to CFB Wainwright where he was employed as a senior technician in the RM shop. This year, Cpl Gibbons has made the decision to retire from the Canadian Armed Forces and pursue a career in the public service as a Contracts Inspector within RPOU(W) Wainwright.
