Joining the Canadian Armed Forces in 1992, Marc Rancourt graduated from Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) Kingston, in 1996 with a B.Eng. in Computer Engineering. On completing training in 1997, he was posted to 2 CER in Petawawa where he deployed on Op PALLADIUM Roto II as a CIMIC officer with 1 RCR BG. He remained in 2 CER for another two years upon his return, as a Tp Comd and Fd Sqn 2IC.
Colonel Rancourt completed an M.Eng. in Geomatics in 2002 at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton and was immediately employed at Mapping & Charting Establishment (MCE) in Ottawa.
As an assistant professor within the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) Kingston, Department of Civil Engineering, the aught Geomatics to 3rd year Civil Engineering students in French and English during the academic years 2005-2007, and subsequently was the Garrison Construction Engineering Officer for CFB Valcartier from 2007 until 2009.
Colonel Rancourt returned to Ottawa in 2009 as Staff Officer to the VCDS until 2011. He then worked within ADM(IE) in the Directorate of Real Property Management. He completed the US Marine Corps Command and Staff Course in 2012.
Remaining in the National Capital Region as the DCO of MCE in 2012, he was promoted and appointed the Commanding Officer of Engineering Services, 2 CDSG in Montreal in July 2013. Following an exciting two years as CO, he returned to Ottawa and was named the DComd of CF RP Ops Gp in July 2015. As Acting Commander CF RP Ops Gp, he was promoted to the rank of Colonel in May 2017 and proceeded to NSP 10 in summer 2017. Upon graduation from CFC in June 2018, assumed the responsibilities of D COS Sp within CJOC.
