Col Mark Misener was awarded in November 2015 the U.S.A. Legion of Merit (degree of Legionnaire) at Fort Hood, Texas by MG (Major General) Michael Bills for exceptional meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services from July 2013 to July 2015.

Col Misener served as both the G5 and the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army's 1st Cavalry Division and deployed with the Division HQ to Afghanistan.

The Legion of Merit (LOM) is a military award of the United States Armed Forces that is given for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements. The decoration is issued to members of the seven uniformed services of the United States as well as to military and political figures of foreign governments. The Legion of Merit is sixth in the order of precedence of U.S. military awards.
