Earlier this year, the CMEA published a short article describing Capt Deane Gorsline’s fight against ALS with an appeal to help as you can through a Go Fund Me campaign initiated by his friends. Deane was diagnosed with ALS in Christmas 2018. He is a 29 year-old Engineer officer currently based in Ottawa. He had previously served with 1 Combat Engineer Regiment.  This is truly unfortunate, especially given his strong character. He is a fighter who does not back down from any challenge no matter the odds.

Today, Deane continues to show an unwavering resolve in his efforts in his fight against ALS by raising money for ALS research. Of the many endeavours he has undertaken, his relentless effort to raise awareness and funds for the fight against ALS stands out. He recently started an ALS Burpee Challenge that is spreading like wildfire on social media.

Deane’s next endeavour is the ALS Canada Virtual Walk taking place on 21 June 2020.  Deane and his wife Danielle have recorded a YouTube briefing with the details.  Click here.
