Alexander Landry enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in July 2012 through the Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP), attending the Royal Military College of Canada from 2012 to 2016. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Chemical Engineering. Following his initial officer training at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering, he was posted to 2 Combat Engineer Regiment in Petawawa, Ontario.
Alexander’s early career employment included the privilege of commanding both the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Troop and 7 Field Troop, time as the 23 Field Squadron Operations Officer, a deployment on Op UNIFIER to Ukraine in September 2018 as the Small Team Training Engineer Advisor, and a domestic deployment to the National Capital Region in 2019 to support flood relief operations as a Company Second in Command. In 2019, Alexander was posted to the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering, where he commanded Holdfast Troop for a year, working also as an instructor on various occasions for Tactics Sqn, the Field Engineer Training Squadron, and the Construction Engineer Management Squadron.
Most recently, Alexander has completed a three-year OUTCAN tour to Izmir, Türkiye, where he served as the Engineering Coordination Staff Officer at NATO Allied Land Command. While overseas, he also chaired the NATO Environmental Protection Working Group Doctrine Panel at NATO Headquarters. Since returning to Canada in 2024, Alexander has split time between Petawawa, Ottawa, and Kingston.
Outside of work, Alexander’s passion centers on community engagement and lifelong learning. He has been a director for various boards, including the Royal Military Colleges Alumni Association, Disaster Recovery Institute Canada, and St John Ambulance New Brunswick. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Fredericton, having been the university’s first valedictorian, and is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in International Affairs from King’s College London. Alexander is also a certified professional engineer (P.Eng., project management professional (PMP), and business continuity professional (CBCP).
Married to Valérie since 2021, you’ll often find them both in one of Ottawa’s many cafes, or pursuing some new adventure beyond Canadian borders.
