Defence Construction Canada (DCC) and its Board of Directors welcome the Government of Canada's appointment of Derrick Cheung as President and CEO, effective September 9, 2019.
Before accepting this position, Mr. Cheung was Vice President, Strategic Sourcing and Real Estate for TransLink in Vancouver, British Columbia, where his responsibilities included procurement and contract management. Mr. Cheung also has experience in a range of publicly-traded and private organizations including aviation, marine, rail and energy, and in a variety of disciplines including technology, business transformation, supply chain management and real estate. Mr. Cheung's education includes a LL.M., MBA, and a MA, as well as various industry certifications.
"I am very pleased that Derrick has accepted to serve as DCC's President and CEO. Given his extensive experience as a seasoned executive in the fields of transportation, infrastructure, energy, and defence, he will make significant contributions to DCC. Derrick will be a tremendous asset in leading the Corporation as it steadfastly serves its defence and security Client-Partners" said Moreen Miller, Chair of DCC's Board of Directors.
Ms. Miller also expressed gratitude to James Paul for his dedication and service during his 10 year career at DCC in the role of President and CEO.
"During Jim's tenure DCC experienced many successes including: the delivery of several public-private-partnership contracts; the first use of an e-procurement system for federal contracts in Canada; and, the delivery of a record-setting $1 billion of contract expenditures on behalf of DCC's Client-Partners. These accomplishments greatly support Canada's defence and security priorities," said Ms. Miller.
James Paul, President and CEO is with DCC until July 12, 2019. Following his departure, Melinda Nycholat, Vice-President, Operations—Procurement will be Acting President and CEO until Mr. Cheung joins the Corporation on September 9, 2019.
