CMEA - 27 July 2019
27 July is the anniversary of the occasion of the end of the fighting of the Korean War when the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed in 1953. Since 1997 this anniversary has been marked in Brampton, Ontario at the Meadowvale Cemetery. Here the Korea Veterans Association of Canada erected the Wall of Remembrance to honour and commemorate the 516 Korean War dead.
Together 26,791 Canadians served in the Korea War and approximately 7,000 continued to serve in the theatre between the ceasefire and the end of 1955.
The memorial was dedicated on 27 July 1997. It is about 60 metres long and bears plaques with the names of those who died in the conflict. The 2019 Korean War Veterans Day Ceremonies will be held on Saturday, 27 July at 11:00 AM at the Meadowvale Cemetery: Wall of Remembrance at 7732 Mavis Rd in Brampton.
