Captain Craig Fettes, from the Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) Directorate of Air Support in Ottawa, finished first in the 5‐kilometre event at the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Running Nationals on May 24, 2014.
The CAF Running Nationals brings together many elite athletes for its 5‐kilometre, 10‐ kilometre, halfand full‐marathon events. The 5‐kilometre event was hotly contested this year, with two CAF members finishing within six seconds of Craig’s time as they sprinted for the line. Craig’s first place finish in the 5‐ kilometre event was the result of many hours of hard work with training beginning in February. He ran the race in 16:03 minutes and finished second place overall out of a total of over 8,000 participants.
Craig also took part in the Army Run 5‐kilometre race last fall, placing first overall out of over 10,000 civilian and military participants, proudly representing the CAF, the RCAF and the Engineer Branch.
Well done, Craig. Chimo!
