Cpl Jodi Payne, serving on Op IMPACT, was recently presented with the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, Chief Choice Award.  The citation reads: Cpl Payne (firefighter from 8 Wing Trenton) has been recognized by the USAF and was presented the 386 Air Expeditionary Wing, Chief Choice Award. Online Survey: Proposed designs for the National Monument to Canada’s Mission in Afghanistan

In August 2019, teams of professional artists, landscape architects, architects, and other urban design professionals were invited to provide their credentials and examples of prior work. In summer 2020, a jury composed of experts in the fields of arts and urban design and representatives from key stakeholder groups shortlisted five design teams to create a design for the Monument.
