Soon after retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces, Jay Berry took an engineering role as the program officer for Real Property Operation Unit (West) (RPOU(W)). Jay’s extensive background with RPOU, allowed him to focus on advancing data literacy to enhance the portfolio maintenance program. His business plan harnessed the power of data to drive efficient use of resources and guide critical decision-making. Recognizing the true potential of data literacy, Jay made it his mission to harness data across our organization. Through workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programs, Jay tirelessly championed the importance of data literacy, empowering our team members to become proficient in data entry and analysis during his time in RPOU(W). Based on Jay’s tutelage, our organization has evolved, embracing data-driven decision-making as a fundamental part of operations.
After completing his master's degree, Jay was offered a position as Director of Combat Line Strategy with Echelon Insurance, an $800M corporation under the Canadian Automobile Association Club Group. He was appointed to work directly with the company CEO to investigate technical risk strategies for the communal line of real properties and ensure the operational lines of all business chains under the company. We extend our heartfelt thanks for Jay's tireless dedication for incorporating data literacy into our organizational approach.
