We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Emilien “Emil” Therien, CD (Ret’d) of Gatineau QC, on 16 November at the age 85 years.
Born in Hull QC, Emile enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1962, as an Administrative Clerk. He subsequently served at St Hubert, Holberg, North Bay, France and Germany. Emile remustered to Map Reproduction Technician in 1972, and was posted to Mapping and Charting Establishment in Ottawa.
During his first eight years with MCE, Emile had a number of employments in the Reproduction Division but found his forté was working in the Resource Centre, where he spent the next ten years providing information and entertainment for the unit. His extracurricular activities were considerable as he was a qualified official for hockey, softball and track and field,
Emile retired from the Canadian Forces in 1990 after 28 years of service. He immediately found employment as a Class-B call-out at Communication Command Headquarters at Tunney’s Pasture. In Ottawa. He returned to MCE in 1991 as a temporary clerk in the Resource Centre, then moved to the Orderly Room. Emile retired in 1996.
The funeral will take place on Saturday, 13 December 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint-Paul Church {26 Eardley Road in Gatineau (Aylmer sector).} The family will receive condolences at the church beginning at 10:15 a.m.
