Unfortunately, Carrie Fortier, DGIEES, spent her last day at work, which happened to be October 22nd, in complete chaos.
Carrie took her retirement after 32 years of service, both with the Canadian Armed Forces and the Public Service. She left with a great sense of accomplishment and that without having reached the age of 50!
She plans to spend her time doing things she likes: hunting, fishing, landscaping and construction projects.
To ensure that Carrie…

Achieving this objective requires that the right committees are established, with the right members, to address the right topics. With all the recent changes in ADM(IE) (the centralization of real property, a major reorganization, and Defence Renewal) it naturally…
"Once you become a commanding officer, expect the un-expectable!", whoever came up with this advice could never had imagined what Maj Rick Dunning, from the CFFM’s office, would experience while in command of the Canadian Forces Station Alert, NU, this past summer.
"Thinking that I had all the power of the Captain of a ship two employees, who had dated for over 14 years, asked me if I would marry them in Alert", said Maj Dunning.

Moving Forward
Good afternoon,
Clearly, the world moves quickly! After last week’s announcement, I am very pleased to write to you today in my new role as the Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs. I am sincerely looking forward to meeting with you and strengthening the relationships that are so important to enhancing the support of our men and women who served and made sacrifices for our nation and for their families.

It has already taken in donations from many Canadians and several major Canadian banks and the…

In 1967, veteran Bob Shaw was part of a new section of the Armed Forces: combat divers. The team was working in the area of the Arctic where the wrecked HMS Erebus was discovered last month.
The HMS Erebus and HMS Terror were part of Sir John Franklin's doomed expedition in 1845 to find the…

"I think it is wonderful and very apt that the new monument shares with…
On the 19th of June 2014, the Edmonton Chapter held our second CMEA golf tournament. During the event we raised $4390.65. We donated $3500.00 to Valour Place and $750.00 to the Cpl Turner fund.
The CMEA and our parent association, the Conference of Defence Associations (CDA), fully support the recent federal response to the third report from the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs. The government has laid out a process to implement recommendations from the report, The New Veteran's Charter: Moving Forward, and will initially take action to address issues surrounding veterans who are seriously ill or wounded and their families. Full details are included in the…
