On this date in 1942, Spr F.P. Hutchinson returned to 1st Field Company two years after being left behind in France after Dunkirk in 1940. He was awarded the first Military Medal to a Canadian in WW II.

On September 6th and 7th, 2017, members from 2 CMBG assembled at Dundonald Hall for the 34th edition of the annual Ironman race. From 7-9 July, 2 Combat Engineer Regiment (2 CER) held a celebration named 40Twenty honouring 40 years since the Regiment has been stood up, and 20 years spent at the Neder Rijn Engineer Park (NREP) within CFB Petawawa. Over the course of the weekend, 2 CER hosted many alumni, engineer family members and other attendees to partake in many events celebrating the Regiment’s history and comradery.

31 CER (The Elgins) are commemorating the 150th anniversary of Confederation with a trip to visit Lord Elgin, their Honorary Colonel. The trip recognizes the pivotal role his ancestor, Lord Elgin, played in bringing about responsible government in the Canada and in developing an early sense of Canadian identity, especially in the use of the maple leaf and the establishment of other national institutions.
