Retired Sapper Officer Publishes Book of Poems

Major Bruce Sand served for 40 years in the Rhodesian and Canadian Armies as an engineer officer. He fought and kept the peace. In retirement, Bruce has found a new calling as a poet and a short story writer. His book, A Soldier's Life: A Sapper's Poems and Short Stories is described in our New Publications section. New Colonel Commandant Appointed for the Canadian Military Engineers

After six years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Military Engineers, BGen Steve Irwin (Ret'd) will transfer the duties of Colonel Commandant to MGen Dan Benjamin, effective 21 March 2021. The Change of Appointment ceremony will take place in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines in effect at that time. The CMEA welcomes General Benjamin and sends a heart felt thank you to General Irwin for his loyal and energetic service. Chimo!

The Netherlands "Medal of Remembrance in Relation to the Liberation of Holland." Is Available to Veterans

Over the years, The Netherlands has struck several versions of their “Medal of Remembrance” to honour the soldiers who helped liberate their country during the Second World War. Markham ON Seniors Hard at Work Making Izzy Dolls

Members of the Angus Glen Older Adults Club in Markham, ON are active supporters of the Izzy Doll project. RCE War Veteran and Artist Tom Matthews Dies at 99

  Thomas Edwin “Tom” Matthews was born in Québec City, QC. He was an artist, teacher, builder, traveller, sailor, reader, history buff and a Royal Canadian Engineer veteran of the Second World War. As a teenager, his interest in painting and design was nurtured by teachers such as Ethel Curry (a renowned Haliburton artist) and Arthur Lismer of the Group of Seven.
