Kyle Scott, who, among his many other jobs, is our VP for Honours & Awards. Kyle recently found a lost Afghanistan Campaign Star in a collection and bought it for about $400 of his own money. Google quickly found several news articles about Trooper Jankowski of the Royal Canadian Dragoons and used a Facebook post on his page to appeal to his followers to help him find the family. In only 30 minutes, he had the information he needed to contact the soldier's daughter, Destiny. She had no idea her father earned this Campaign Star for his service in Afghanistan.
Contact was then made with a friend who had served with Trooper Jankowski. Kyle mailed the medal and at the same time, applied for the rotation bar for the medal. Asking for an expedited reply, Kyle was able to get the bar delivered to the family. In short order, a ceremony was put together by the family and RCD Association.
