    We regret to advise of the death of Warrant Officer Wilfred “Wilf” Edward Biggs, CD (Ret'd) peacefully in the Oromocto, NB Public Hospital on 5 August 2008 at age 61 years.

    Wilf was born in Longueuil QC. As a teenager, he was an Army Cadet and from there he moved on to the Militia and joined the 30th Field Squadron, RCE. In 1967, Wilf started his 37-year Regular Force career as a Sapper with his first posting being Gagetown NB. Wilf's military career included postings to 4 Field Squadron, Germany (1971), 1 Field Squadron, Petawawa, ON (1974), Recruit School, Cornwallis, NS (1977), Canadian Forces Station Alert, NU (1978), 22 Field Squadron, Gagetown (1980), National Defence Headquarters, Ottawa (1984), 2 Combat Engineer Regiment, Petawawa (1992) and Canadian Forced School of Military Engineering, Gagetown (1997).

    Wilf was Curator, Canadian Military Engineer Museum 2000-2003 and was awarded the Commandant's Commendation and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch Commendation for his work in that position. On retirement from the Army, Wilfred joined Kent Building Supplies in Fredericton, NB where he was nicknamed "The Gate Keeper".

    Visitation will take place at the Oromocto Select Funeral Home 7 August from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Funeral will take place at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on 8 August 11:00 AM. Donations may be made to the Oromocto Public Hospital or the Canadian Military Engineer Museum in Gagetown NB. {khAug2008} [zsp]
