Après 9 ans de bons et loyaux services au sein des Forces armées canadiennes et de la Branche du Génie militaire canadien, le Sgt Mark Doherty a pris sa libération le 28 février 2022. Une cérémonie de Départ dans la dignité aura lieu l’après-midi du vendredi, 8 juillet 2022, à Picaroons Roundhouse à Fredericton, NB. Mark was born and raised in Oromocto, New Brunswick. After graduating from high school, he completed a provincial apprenticeship and received his electrical Red Seal in 2009. He then began to work as an electrician in the local area.
After the birth of his first child, Cooper, Mark enlisted in the CAF as an ED Tech on 24 July 2012. While Mark was on Basic Training, his wife, Brittany, gave birth to their daughter, Gray. He completed Basic Training in November 2012 and then BMQ the following January. He began trade training at CFSME and completed DP 1 in June 2013. Mark was then posted to CFB Comox with his wife and two children.
In 2014, Mark was promoted to Cpl and temporarily returned to CFSME for the DP 2 course. In Comox, Mark’s wife gave birth to their third child, Markus. Shortly thereafter in May 2016, Mark deployed to Ali Al Salem Airbase in Kuwait on OP IMPACT to assist with camp expansion and maintenance. He returned to Comox after his tour in November 2016. The following year, Mark attended PLQ at CFB Borden and was promoted to MCpl. After this promotion, he was posted to CFSME as an ED Tech Instructor.
Two years later in April 2019, Mark attended the QL6A course, was promoted to Sgt, and posted to 4 ESR as a section commander. In 2021, he was posted to RP Ops Grp Det Gagetown as a contract manager and served there until his retirement. Mark accepted the offer of a civilian electrician position and continues to work for the RP Ops Grp in Gagetown. He and his family plan to remain in the local area.
